Fuerteventura Airport
Fuerteventura Airport, in it’s present location at El Matorral, celebrated it’s 50th birthday on 14 September 2019. The airport is 5 km south of the capital, Puerto del Rosario and is on the east coast of Fuerteventura.
The first flight came in from Las Palmas, and in 1973 the first European flights arrived. The present terminal building opened in 1994 and was extended in 2006. The airport employs 2,300 people, and 46 airlines from 102 destinations use it.
The airport has one Terminal Building and it has two floors. On the ground floor is Departures (at the southern end) and Arrivals (at the northern end). On the first floor is the Departures Lounge and 24 boarding gates.
6,118,893 passengers (Arrivals and Departures) passed through the airport in 2018, and is the 12th busiest airport in Spain.
The airport is open from 07.30 – 23.00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Friday and Sunday it is open from 07.00 – 22.00.
