The State Meteorological Agency, Aemet anticipates a general increase in temperatures this Friday, with a more pronounced increase in the interior of the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as well as in the medium and high areas of the rest of the Canary archipelago. In addition, a low possibility of haze (calima) in altitude during the afternoon in these two eastern islands is foreseen, which could add a haze to the typically clear sky of the region.

Whilst there was no indication of it this morning on Accuweather indicating fair air conditions and Skiron Dust forecast not showing one a Calima has certainly arrived since lunchtime, with a good layer of dust on outside surfaces.

It has also been very warm and humid with little wind.

❗️❗️The General Directorate of Emergencies declares a wind and coastal phenomena alert throughout the archipelago.
In the case of Fuerteventura, winds will be particularly strong in the municipalities of Pájara, Tuineje, Betancuria and Antigua.
A series of recommendations have been issued to prevent risks during the alert:
🔹Close doors and windows to avoid draughts that could lead to broken and falling glass.
🔹Remove flower pots and all objects that could fall onto the street from balconies and rooftops.
🔹 Check homes for cornices, balconies and façades in poor condition that could lead to falling debris and rubble.
🔹Avoid going on excursions or camping trips until the situation is back to normal.
🔹Please postpone road travel and take extra precautions when travelling by road. The use of public transport is recommended.
🔹 Motorcycles and large vehicles with a large surface area in contact with the wind (lorries, vans, vehicles with trailers or caravans) are at risk of overturning in crosswinds.

The coastal storm wreaked havoc in Pozo Negro.

Antigua suspends all municipal activities in view of the warning of winds of up to 80 km/h
- As long as the warning for strong winds, issued by the AEMET and the Canary Islands Service, remains in force, all municipal activities in open and closed spaces are suspended.
In view of the alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency, and following the recommendations of the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Canary Islands, the Town Hall of Antigua suspends all municipal activities, indoors or outdoors, planned for this Tuesday 9th April.
The weather forecast predicts winds of up to 80 km / h throughout the day today, until twelve o'clock at night, which is why municipal activities are suspended indoors and outdoors, in order to avoid displacements and prevent incidents or displacements, says the mayor, Matias Peña.

The Town Hall of Antigua reminds that the yellow alert declared by the State Meteorological Agency forecasts gusty winds of up to 80 kilometres per hour that will affect inland areas, coinciding also with adverse weather phenomena on the coast.
The Local Police of Antigua and the Department of Security and Emergencies recommend paying attention to the weather forecast, avoiding travel, walks or activities in open spaces, as well as checking the condition of roofs, rooftops, downspouts and drains, also avoiding nautical outings or fishing practices on the coast, while the alert remains. In the event of any incident or interest in further information, please call 112.

Good morning from Caleta, yesterday was very much as forecast mainly sunny and very windy day and it has been blowing a hooley again all night.  The wind has created some very rough seas and high Tides, driving up the Dunes road yesterday I can't recall waves that big and the tide as high as it was, here in Caleta the rough sea and high tide have damaged the bridge to the island restaurant in front of the Carlota and Sheraton hotels so the restaurant is now closed. The wind created a lot of local dust so visibility was very hazy

This morning at 8 am it was 18C but felt much cooler in the still strong wind from the N, it is a very hazy sky, and looking east the Calima is starting to come in.

Today's forecast from AccuWeather

Shade Temperature - Up to 25C at 4pm feeling like 24C
Cloud cover - 0% all day but with Calima arriving it will be hazy sunshine
Cloud Ceiling - 9100mts
Rain - 0% today
UV Factor - Very High of 10 at 1 pm
Humidity - averaging 67% today
Air Quality - FAIR until midday POOR from midday and UNHEALTHY from 5 pm due to the Calima
Visibility - Down to 1.6Km today
Wind - From the NNE / NE all day at 26 to 30Kmph with gusts up to 41Kmph so not quite so windy today.

Warning The Skiron Dust forecast shows a Calima coming in this morning and lasting at least a week with the worst days being Sunday & Monday.

Sunrise, Sunset & tide times -
