Funding has been approved for the works. Let's hope that they are better executed and managed than the outstanding work that has been ongoing elsewhere in the resort.

They have started on the works in Calle Acebuche - https://www.ayto-antigua.es/noticias/comienzan-las-obras-en-la-segunda-fase-de-el-castillo-por-mas-de-800000-euros?fbclid=IwAR2cbmEg3EZ61fukCtCBt8EOqpWVXoqMgXMwRF7-fnfppPONgFTRoszR_R4

Work begins on the second phase of El Castillo for more than 800,000 euros

• In four streets of the second phase of Caleta de Fuste, comprehensive sanitation, paving, lighting, asphalt and ornamental elements are carried out.

• The works will be carried out in an approximate period of six months, starting at Acebuche Street to continue in Cardón, Turmero and Relinchón.

• The complete reform and modernization project includes the accessibility of the streets, replacing the public lighting with one of low consumption and respect for environmental lighting.

The mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña and the councilor for Works, Services, Parks and Gardens, Juan Cabrera, visited this Tuesday, June 22 in the morning, the beginning of the works on Acebuche Street, being the first of a project of complete remodeling of four roads in the Second Phase of Caleta de Fuste, which is being executed with an investment of 806,222 euros financed by the Antigua City Council within the framework of collaboration with the Canary Islands Development Funds, Fdcan.

The deadline for completion of these works is six months, each street running progressively in a month and a half in order to cause the least disturbance or inconvenience to nearby residents, and adds the councilor, Juan Cabrera, the action began this week on Acebuche street, continuing later on Cardón, Turmero and Relinchón streets.

The remodeling project for these four streets includes accessibility parameters, widening the paving of streets and eliminating the elements that currently obstruct the passage.

Four streets in the Second Phase of El Castillo that will see the sanitation and distribution network of drinking water transformed and modernized, the underground channeling of electrical and communication cables, the installation of public lighting with low light pollution, the paving of sidewalks and complete paved the road, improving its signage, accessibility and ornamental elements for urban beautification.

The Complete Remodeling Project of these streets, which is being carried out with an investment of more than 800,000 euros, will be followed soon, says Mayor Matías Peña, by the also comprehensive remodeling of the Virgen de la Peña and Picasso avenues, which surround in a ring road, the second phase of residences in Caleta de Fuste, which will involve an investment of close to five million euros. We work without prior announcements, concludes the municipal councilor, because the facts are the best news for all the neighbors.

It's behind schedule all ready and they've started the second road before completing the first. This wasn't was said on 22 June:

'The deadline for completion of these works is six months, each street running progressively in a month and a half in order to cause the least disturbance or inconvenience to nearby residents, and adds the councilor, Juan Cabrera, the action began this week on Acebuche street, continuing later on Cardón, Turmero and Relinchón streets.'

They are still some way off finishing the first road, and they've only put in the new pipes in the second.

They've put tarmac on the road on the first street in the past week, but it's not open yet.

The second street is still a mess.

Hi all, does anyone living in Caleta have an update on where they are up to with these works? More specifically on Calle Cardón

Calle Cardon road is still blocked off and they are relaying the pavement and putting new pipes under the road.

@caletafuerteventura Thanks Stephen, most appreciated. I am considering staying in a private let on Cardón in around a months time, thats why I ask. I will check back nearer the time, not bothered if the road is blocked off or about noise during the day, but do you know if it is possible they would be working during the night?

They don't work during the night - I think they finish quite early in the afternoon. They should be done in a months time! They are then moving on to the next street up the hill.
