Local & European Elections on Sunday 26 May
Elections are being held on Sunday 26 May for the European Parliament, the Canarian Government, the Fuerteventura Cabildo and the Ayuntamientos.
Any non-Spanish residents, who have registered to vote, are only allowed to vote in the European and Ayuntamiento elections.
In the election you vote for a party. Each party has a list of candidates in numerical order, and the councillors are elected on proportional representation.
So if a party gets the majority of votes, the Number 1 candidate becomes mayor and then they go down the list. So, for example, the first 5 on the list might become councillors while the Numbers 6 down don't get in.
APA 1,058 votes and 7 seats
CCa-PNC 689 votes and 4 seats
PP 427 votes and 2 seats
PSOE 363 votes and 2 seats
AMF 287 votes and 2 seats
NC-IF 148 votes and no seats
PPMAJO 145 votes and no seats
ANC 112 votes and no seats
NF 62 votes and no seats
I have received confirmation in the post that I am eligible to vote, as I have done in previous elections.
I've been doing some research on who can be voted for in the Antigua Municipality. There are 10 parties:
